Jason McDaniel confronted and killed an armed robber believed to have been the so-called 'Honeybee' killer.
In December, McDaniel took on Gary Amaya during an attempted armed robbery at an Orland Park tanning salon. The gun was later traced back to a series of October shootings in Chicago's southern suburbs and Indiana.
Those shootings left one person dead and two others wounded.
