German brewery promotes alcohol-free beer

February 21, 2011 (CHICAGO)

Erdinger alcohol-free wheat beer is not like most other sports drinks. It's served with a frothy head.

The company says it's vitamin rich and has natural regenerative powers. It's loaded with carbohydrates, which is perfect after a long run or workout.

It's already popular in Europe.

This month, it was handed out to athletes at the World Cup biathlon held in Maine.

At least one nutritionist is skeptical about the health claims. But she admits it's a better way to celebrate than regular beer.
