April 11, 2011 (CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill.)

Police say Thursday around 9:30 p.m., officers responded to an apartment building in the 200-block of West Terra Cotta Avenue.

Police say Abraham M. Silva came to the woman's apartment, forced his way in, battered the woman, and stole her cell phone. Police say Silva also reportedly hit a family member of the former girlfriend.

The victim told police she fled the apartment with Silva in pursuit. She said he attacked her again outside. Police say Silva fled the area on foot. He turned himself in the next day.

Silva faces charges of home invasion, criminal trespass to a residence, two counts of domestic battery, criminal damage to property, theft, and battery. Silva remained in the McHenry County Jail after failing to post bond. He is due in court May 3.
