Latino chefs to be honored at gala event

Gaytan is among four Latino chefs who will be celebrated next week at an event held by the Instituto Del Progreso Latino. The event that features a live demonstration from the four chefs is entitled "Alta Cocina : A Spring Chef's Gala" and will highlight upscale Mexican cuisine with a French twist.

The gala honoring Gaytan -- the American Culinary Federation 2011 Chef of the Year -- and the other chefs takes place on Thursday, April 28 at the Hilton Chicago.

This April 28th, Instituto del Progreso Latino Will Host Their Signature Event: Alta Cocina: A Spring Chef's Gala

Chicago, IL -- Instituto Del Progreso Latino is hosting their signature event Alta Cocina: A Spring Chef's Gala. The event will take place on April 28, 2011, 5:30pm at The Hilton Hotel Chicago located at 720 S. Michigan Avenue.

The event will be a celebration of Latinos' influence and presence in Chicago's finest cuisine. The evening features keynote speaker Ingrid Hoffmann, chef and celebrity host of Delicioso (Telefutura/Univision) and Simply Delicioso (The Cooking Channel) will share her success story as a Latina chef. Cocktail hour includes live demonstrations from renowned Chicago Chefs Carlos Gaytan of Mexique and Patricio Sandoval of Mercadito. For dinner, a customized menu will be prepared by Executive Chef Mario Garcia of The Hilton Chicago. Dessert will be provided by Chef Lucero Martinez from Lucero Catering. For this affair, Instituto is expecting 400 guests, including numerous city and state elected officials, community leaders, corporate contacts, and foundation representatives. During the event, Instituto will proudly honor an individual with the Maestro del Pueblo Award. In addition, Instituto will also recognize entrepreneurship to a Latino-owned business with The Industry Achievement Award.
