Police: Aurora man hit infant nephew with car, fled

May 21, 2011 (AURORA)

The alleged hit-and-run happened late Saturday afternoon at 402 Hinman. The boy has been identified as Jared Pichardo.

Police say it appears that Rodolfo Pichardo, 21, struck the child as he backed out of the driveway.

Rodolfo reportedly stopped for a brief time, but then drove off, police say, with another uncle of Jared's, Rodrigo Pichardo, 24, who lives in the same home.

"[The paramedics] gave the little boy CPR, and the next thing I knew, they scooped him up in [their] arms and they ran him out here to the ambulance," said neighbor Mary Lou Farbo. "And I just stood here and went, 'Oh my God it's a kid, it's a kid -- oh no.'"

Police say Rodolfo Pichardo was driving a green 2002 Ford Explorer with Illinois license plate number A457815. They are asking anyone with information to call 9-1-1.
