A southwest suburban airman is back from Afghanistan.

The Soldiers' Guardian Angels and the Warriors' Watch riders escorted Staff Sergeant Greg Raney home to Tinley Park Friday night. He's on a break from duty in Afghanistan where he's served the U.S. Air Force for the last six months.

Staff Sergeant Raney graduated from Lincoln Way East High School and attended Joliet junior college before he enlisted in the Air Force. He's received a commander's coin from General David Petraeus and the Joint Service Commendation Medal.
