The 47th annual Chicago International Film Festival got underway Thursday night.

The main event was the screening of "The Last Rites of Joe May." The drama was shot in town and stars Chicago actor Dennis Farina. Farina told ABC7's Janet Davies that he's thrilled with his career.

"I believe I'm the luckiest guy in the world and I wake up and thank God for everything that's happening, you know, I don't take anything for granted," Farina said.

The film festival will feature screenings of 180 movies from 50 countries over the next two weeks.
