Emergency track repairs had a west suburban Metra line blocked in one direction Thursday morning near Elgin.

Trains were more than an hour late at one point along the Milwaukee West District line because of a broken near the Fox River east of the National Street station. Delays were only expected to be about 10-15 minutes as of 6:30 a.m.

Trains were single-tracking through the Elgin area.

Train No. 2200, which was scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 5:30 a.m. was 58-63 minutes behind schedule, according to the Metra website.

Train No. 2202, scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 6:13 a.m., ran 25-30 minutes behind schedule, and trains after will continue to run 10 to 15 minutes late as trains pass the work area at "walking speed," according to the website.
