Study says kiwi may lower blood pressure

November 15, 2011

A new study finds the brown fuzzy fruit may lower blood pressure levels at just three a day -- even more than an apple a day.

In the study, men and women with mildly high blood pressure who ate three kiwi fruits a day for eight weeks had blood pressure levels that were lower than those volunteers who ate an apple a day.

Cardiologists are quick to point out there is no single magic food or ingredient that is the key to heart health. But they all agreed that kiwi may have a place in the five daily servings of fruit and vegetables that are currently recommended.

The study was presented at the American Heart Association meeting in Florida.
