ABC 7's news partner The Daily Herald reports that 39-year-old Antonio Penaflor is accused of taking a 12-year-old girl to a hotel last December to celebrate her birthday. Prosecutors say he sexually assaulted her there.
Investigators say Penaflor met the girl through one of her family members.
Penaflor was already in police custody for other charges, including domestic battery and having a fake state ID.
