Icy roads cause spinouts around Chicago area

The weather played a factor in several crashes on Interstate 80 around Chicagoland Monday morning.

A violent crash occurred on westbound I-80, near LaGrange Road. A car collided with a semi and became wedged underneath. It is not known what led to the crash.

Several spinouts were reported on Interstate 80/94, including a semi and a car near Cline Avenue. There were several icy patches on the expressway, but no serious injuries reported.

State police say most drivers were traveling too fast for road conditions.
