New safety standards for portable cribs released

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has released new stronger standards for portable cribs.

A crib killed a 16 month old boy after the rails collapsed and strangled the child.

Now the CPSC has sent standards preventing side rails from being a part of the cribs.

Regulators say while most major manufacturers have altered their designs, millions of the older products are still used second-hand.

The new standards will take effect in December.
