Police: Suburban traffic stop turns up 2,300 prescription pills

Holland Hernandez, 26, of Waukegan, was pulled over Thursday night by police responding to a reckless driving complaint, according to a release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

The release states police searched Hernandez's vehicle in the parking lot of the McDonald's restaurant at Route 12 and Route 120 in Volo after noticing the scent of burning marijuana.

Police say the search turned up various prescription drugs, including Oxycontin, Hydrocodone and Adderall, $4,700 cash, and a shotgun with ammunition shells attached to the weapon.

Hernandez was charged with Driving While License Suspended, Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, one count of Possession of Cannabis, six counts Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, and six counts of Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance.

Hernandez appeared in bond court Friday. Her bond was set at $50,000.
