Poll: Severely obese face discrimination

Many severely obese Americans report they face discrimination because of their weight.

The stigma they endure increases along with their weight.

A new poll by Harris Interactive and Healthday finds more than half of the people who fall into the obese or morbidly obese categories say they've been discriminated against.

It's happened when they apply for a job or a promotion.

About two-fifths of the respondents reveal they've been socially shunned and more than a third say they've felt discriminated against when being seated in theatres or restaurants.
