Hot Chocolate 15K/5K

November 3, 2012 (CHICAGO)

The 5th Annual Hot Chocolate 15K/ 15K (www.hotchocolate15k.com/chicago ) starts and finishes in Grant Park, rain or shine. About 40,000 runners can truly taste "sweet success" once they cross the finish line, when they get the Finishers Mug filled with hot chocolate, chocolate fondue and a plethora of yummy treats to dip.

Derek Sprau, Grass Roots Marketing Manager, and Stephanie Wainright, Participant Experience Manager, came into our ABC7 studio kitchen to show us how to make this mug and to tell us about the event. The Chicago race is part of the Hot Chocolate race series, which stops in other cities, including Columbus, Ohio, Phoenix, Arizona, Atlanta, Georgia, Dallas, Texas, Seattle, Washington, and San Diego, California (www.hotchocolate15k.com/chicago).

The race is raising money for the National Charity partner, Ronald McDonald House Charities. This year the race is also adding the "Hot Chocolate Walk for Little City," where 100% of funds raised will go to the Little City Foundation. With so many runners in the streets, there will be rolling road closures from 6 a.m. until 11 a.m. in Chicago (see list). Participants need to be on the east side of Michigan Ave. by 7 a.m.
