Money returned to the City of Chicago by United Airlines is going to be invested into the community.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel toured Austin Polytechnical Academy Tuesday and announced the school will receive $1.25 million to create new advanced manufacturing programs for students.

The skills students will learn are needed in the job market right now, Emanuel said.

The money comes from redevelopment incentive money United Airlines can no longer use because it is consolidating its headquarters in the Willis Tower.
