U.S. kids getting plenty of sleep, study finds

November 27, 2012

The study in the Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine finds children appear to be getting as much sleep as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends.

Insufficient sleep has been tied to all sorts of issues in kids and teens from behavior problems to heart health risks.

Researchers gathered data from a nationwide survey that has tracked families for decades. But they add parents reports of how much sleep their kids get are not perfectly accurate and that it is still possible individual children aren't sleeping enough.
