Islamic council sharing proper meaning of 'Jihad'

December 14, 2012 (CHICAGO)

The council says this is part of a national public education campaign seeking to share the proper meaning of jihad as believed and practiced by the majority of Muslims.

"Jihad in Islam simply means to struggle to a better place, so whatever barriers and burdens and shortcomings you have in your life, you are asked, you are tasked to muster in the inner courage, inner strength, in resolve to overcome those personal barriers," said Ahmed Rehab of CAIR Chicago.

This campaign will feature ads on 25 CTA busses promoting that message.
