More than 1000 women expected to turn out for free health screenings, Heart-healthy cooking demonstrations and Zumba classes

WHAT: will take control of their heart health at the American Heart Association's free Go Red for Women Community Expo...

WHEN: on Wednesday, February 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m....

WHERE: at the Hilton Chicago, 720 S. Michigan Avenue.

WHY: Heart disease is the number one killer of women, taking the life of one in three women each year. The Go Red for Women Community Expo is a free event that will include heart-health screenings, interactive workshops on nutrition and exercise, and energetic Zumba classes.

DETAILS:

Free heart-health screenings will be offered starting at 8:30 a.m., with the last screenings beginning at 1:15 p.m. Other events throughout the morning include:

  • Zumba classes at 9:45 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
  • Question-and-answer session with local physicians hosted by ABC 7's Kathy Brock at 10:30 a.m.
  • Spanish-language question-and-answer session with local physicians hosted by ABC 7's Michelle Gallardo at noon
  • Healthy cooking demonstration at 1:30 p.m.
