Lack of sleep may lead to binge eating

March 1, 2013 (CHICAGO)

Sleep deprivation can apparently do more than make you tired. Now there is evidence lack of sleep may lead to junk food bingeing.

A new study finds lack of sleep can lead you to eat larger portions of high calorie foods and increase your long term risk of weight gain.

Researchers found people tended to eat more after a night of no sleep even if they were full.

Scientists say insufficient sleep is a growing problem in modern society, and this could explain a link between poor sleep habits and overeating.

The study appears in the journal Psychoneuroendocrinology.
