Man critically injured in hit-and-run crash

The crash happened around 11 a.m. at the intersection of Ogden and Pulaski on the border of Lawndale and Little Village. The victim was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital.

Police have not identified the victim, only saying that he is very critical condition. Witnesses expressed surprise that he survived the accident, the impact was so severe and the vehicle was going so fast.

The man was crossing the street and the vehicle was traveling westbound on Ogden ran the light and hit the man, sending him several feet into the air. Witnesses said the driver did not slow down, speeding through the intersection and continuing westbound along Ogden.

The vehicle was going too fast to get an exact identification, but police have put out a community alert in which they show a picture of a 4-door Pontiac they believe might resemble the one involved in the accident. They believe the car will show some signs of damage to either the front end and/or the windshield as a result of the crash.

Anyone who can identify the car or the driver is asked to call police.
