Police say the suspect, Joel West, was hiding in the ceiling of the Currency Exchange at 31st Street and Wallace and dropped to the floor when the woman arrived to work Saturday morning. The woman's 7-year-old son was with her at the Bridgeport store.
Both were threatened with a knife.
Police say West fled, eventually, and the victim called 911.
West was arrested later.
