A new effort was launched Friday to pull a tugboat out of Lake Michigan.

It became partially submerged Monday while trying to retrieve two barges that broke free while being towed.

A crane barge and other equipment were on the scene Friday night at 43rd Street.

It will help stabilize the tugboat while diesel fuel and water are pumped out.

How quickly the work will be done depends on the weather.
