Officers injured in homeless shelter fire

A fire at a homeless shelter in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood injured three police officers.The fire broke out Tuesday just before 10 p.m. in the 4600-block of North Clifton. It forced dozens of residents out into the cold.

Investigators say the fire started in the basement of the Cornerstone Community Outreach shelter. An exact cause has not been determined.

The officers suffered minor smoke inhalation. They helped more than 100 people get out of the building.
