An improved emergency callback system is about to be installed in the city of Chicago. The reverse-911 system is used to alert city residents about weather emergencies and impending disasters.

The new version is capable of calling cell phones and land lines. It can make 1,000 calls per minute.

Two years ago, Mayor Daley ordered the upgrade for the emergency call back system to include cell phones and increase capacity.
