Iowa police have called off a lockdown at the University of Northern Iowa Tuesday night. A threat was allegedly made against a student.

They arrested a suspect just a few hours ago in the Des Moines area.

Police say they received a call around 5 p.m. that an armed man was coming to the campus in Cedar Falls to harm his girlfriend. She lives at Dancer Hall.

Officers locked down the dormitory and surrounding buildings as a precaution.

The university says it sent out a text message and email warnings to students and parents.
