A 100 milligram dose of aspirin taken every other day appears to reduce the risk of asthma in women, according to the results of a large trial that appears in the online journal Thorax.

The findings indicate a 10 percent reduction in asthma risk with aspirin use. The beneficial effect was not seen in obese women.

Still, researchers emphasize that more studies are needed before aspirin can be recommended solely for this purpose.
