BLUE ISLAND The hospital has been in operation for more than 100 years and is the largest employer in Blue Island.
But mounting losses have forced the owners to announce it is closing after a failed search for a buyer.
Some are wondering where this leaves the hospital's staff.
The state still must approve the hospital's closure.
That is expected take at least four months.
