According to police, Alison Hevrdejs, 54, refused to drop a samurai-type sword when officers arrived at a home where witnesses reported seeing the woman go. Police said they attempted to subdue her with a stun gun, but it did not work. Officials said she was shot by police when she lunged at deputies with her sword.
Hevrdejs is hospitalized in fair condition, according to officials. Charges are pending against her.
