EPA: Don't flush medication

The Environmental Protection Agency is encouraging consumers around the Great Lakes to drop off leftover and expired medicine at collection centers.

The Earth Day initiative comes after trace amounts of pharmaceuticals have been showing up in the drinking water of majors cities. The EPA has set a goal of collecting 1 million pills and 1 million pounds of electronics from more than 30 million people who live around the Great Lakes.

Collection site locations are available on the EPA website.
