Several suburban communities are getting a head start on the fight against gypsy moths. The Illinois Department of Agriculture sent out helicopters Friday to cover areas especially vulnerable to the insects. Neighborhoods in Woodridge, Lemont, Naperville and Oak Forest will be sprayed.

Gypsy moths prey on trees and shrubs, especially Oak trees.

The helicopters planned to avoid areas near schools.
