Cold temps. may stress the heart

It's already known that cold temperatures increase blood pressure and put strain on the heart.

Stress created by the cold may also trigger a process that makes blood thicker ...and more likely to clot.

And a new study in the journal "epidemiology" finds cold air temperatures can also boost inflammation in the body.

German researchers say the inflammation may put extra stress on the heart resulting in more cardiovascular deaths.
