Microsoft bids farewell to Windows XP

Microsoft is urging retailers and major computer makers to stop selling it as well.

Some PC users have protested Microsoft's decision to replace XP with the new Vista operating system.

Once computers loaded with XP have been cleared from inventories, consumers who can't live without the old operating system on a new machine will have to buy Vista Ultimate or Vista Business and then legally downgrade to XP.
