Study notes spike in caffeine poisonings

Researchers in Massachusetts say caffeine is behind many calls to poison control. University of Massachusetts toxicologists say many of the calls involve people under the age of 19.

Experts point to heavily caffeinated energy drinks which they claim are aggressively marketed to children. The study cited 4,600 poison control calls during 2005.

Boston's Children Hospital confirmed it has received dozens of poison calls in the past year related to too much caffeine ingested by minors.
