City collects almost 7,000 guns from Turn-In Program

The weapons were on display at the Chicago police department's Homan Square facility on the west side.

One-hundred nine of the guns were assault weapons and more than 1,000 of them were BB guns and replicas.

Participants exchanged the guns for a $100 gift card at 25 churches across the city-- no questions asked.

The city has collected almost 1,800 guns since beginning the Gun Turn-In Program four years ago.
