Because Thomas was allegedly involved in the robbery gone bad, he now faces murder charges in connection to Groves' death for committing the crime.
A store employee and passer-by were also injured in the shooting.
Suspect in shooting faces murder charges
CHICAGO Carl Thomas, 28, and Marvin Groves, 41, were partners in the hold-up, according to police. Groves was shot to death by the storeowner. Thomas was wounded.
