Study: Taking the stairs could save your life

CHICAGO A small Swiss study presented at the annual meeting of the European Society of Cardiology claims using the stairs instead of the elevator could be a life saver.

People who chose to walk up and down stairs at work for three months increased levels of fitness dramatically and decreased risks for heart disease.

The stair climbers saw reductions in waist size, body fat, blood pressure and cholesterol.

Researchers say the pilot study suggests stair-climbing at work may have major public health implications.
