September 28, 2008: Cook County state's attorney Green Party candidate

O'Brien is an assistant state's attorney in the office and has been a Cook County prosecutor since 1989.

But, unlike his boss, retiring State's Atty. Dick Devine, O'Brien opposes ending the Illinois moratorium on the death penalty. We'll ask about that and many other issues, including county jail overcrowding, diversity in the office, whether to decriminalize possession of small amounts of marijuana, keeping the office free of political influence, his endorsement of letting assistant state's attorney's join a union. We'll also ask what he means when he promises that, if elected, he'll be "the people's lawyer."
