Bond is set at $5 million for a northwest suburban man accused of killing his mother. Forty-three-year-old Paul Castronovo of Mount Pleasant is charged with first degree murder and concealment of a homicide.

Police say they found 76-year-old Mary Castronovo dead in the basement of her home. They were conducting a well-being check after family members had not heard from her. An autopsy found that she was strangled.

Castronovo lived in the home with his mother.
