New DUI law going into effect January 1

Anyone convicted of drunk driving will have to get an alcohol detecting device installed in their car. They have to blow into the device and if the alcohol level is too high, the device will not let the car start.

The device will be mandatory for first time offenders. They will have 14 days to have it installed in their cars.

Skirting the law, by driving another car without the device, could get the driver a three year prison sentence.
