The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says the clean-up from the oil waste spill on the Des Plaines River will take another day or two to complete. The spill took place Sunday near the Rockdale Caterpillar plant.

The EPA now says 3,000 gallons actually spilled into the water, not the 6.000 originally estimated.

Navigational restrictions have been lifted in the area of the spill which means commercial traffic has been reopened on the river.
