A jury has awarded a woman injured in a Metra train derailment nearly $30 million. Renea Poppel suffered brain damage and other injuries in the September 2005 accident on the Rock Island Line. She will probably require full-time care for life.

Two people were killed in the accident.

Metra admitted fault and offered to settle with Poppel for $16.7 million. But her lawyers asked a jury to award her nearly $67 million in damages.

Metra has not yet released an official response to the jury's decision.
