Match day for medical students

For medical students across the country, Thursday is 'match day' when they received the letters telling them where they'll do their residencies. Some future doctors at the University of Chicago were happy with the results.

The process began last fall when students applied to residency programs. After going through interviews, the students ranked where they would like to go.

The programs then ranked which students they would like to have. A computer algorithm then made the match.

A residency can last three to seven years.
