Last year, a request to build a supercenter was rejected by the planning and development commissioner at the time. This proposal would take away the commissioner's power to reject stores more than 100,000-square feet in size.

April 22, 2009 (CHICAGO) Alderman Howard Brookins introduced an amended redevelopment agreement Wednesday to allow Wal-Mart to build its second Chicago store. The store would be a supercenter that sells groceries and would be located at 83rd and Stewart.
