FTC cracks down on auto warranty calls

Federal regulators are cracking down on companies that call people to warn them their auto warranties are about to expire and urging them to sign up for new service plans. The Federal Trade Commission is investigating several companies involved in the calls.

The computerized calls target people at home and on their cell phones and they are made even if consumers are listed on the national 'do not call' registry.

Federal regulators are expected to file lawsuits against the companies.
