Prosecutors say he tied the 12-year-old to a bed frame with straps and beat him at their home in Crete.
Eight other children lived in the home, four of them are Kevin's brothers.
All of those children are in protective custody.
Man charged in foster child's death
May 15, 2009 (CHICAGO) Kevin Johnson, 12, died last July. His foster parent, 43-year-old Fred Johnson II, was arrested Thursday morning in connection with the boy's death. Fred Johnson, who is the husband of the boy's step-sister, is charged with first-degree murder, aggravated battery and unlawful restraint.
