Getting more of the sunshine vitamin could help make you brighter later in life, so says a study that bolsters evidence vitamin D may help older people stay mentally fit. The findings in the journal Neurology, Neuropsychology and Psychiatry also raise the possibly that supplements may help keep the brain functioning as people age.

Researchers do not know exactly how vitamin and mental agility maybe connected, but there is some thought the vitamin may help protect neurons in the brain.

Recent studies have also indicated vitamin D may protect against cancer and artery disease.
