Workers at the Congress Hotel walked off the job in June of 2003 following a breakdown in negotiations over pay raises that other hotels were giving workers.
On Monday, Governor Pat Quinn spoke at a rally marking the sixth anniversary of the strike.
Strikers walking the picket line are a familiar sight outside the hotel on Michigan Avenue.
Quinn isn't the only high-profile politician to stand with strikers outside the hotel.
During his presidential campaign, President Barack Obama also walked the picket line.
