Man arrested after Wilmette standoff

July 8, 2009 (WILMETTE, Ill.) The standoff ended just before 7:30 a.m.

Police closed off a number of streets as a precaution.

Mark Wall, 37, apparently barricaded himself in a home after threatening violence against himself and others, Wilmette police say. He was wanted by police in connection to alleged battery to a relative earlier in the day.

Neighbors say police ordered them to stay inside their homes until they defused the standoff.

The man was hospitalized after surrendering peacefully.

Wall was arrested on charges of domestic battery and felony aggravated battery. He is currently being held in Cook County Jail on $200,000 bond, according to police.
