A sports rarity highlighted the 12th annual benefit softball game between University of Illinois at Chicago officers and 12th District Chicago police. The game at UIC was a benefit for families of fallen officers.

Chicago police won 11 to 5, thanks to some long-ball displays. But UIC also showed power, with a home-run blast over the left field fence.

And UIC made a memorable defensive play when its shortstop snared a liner, stepped on second to retire one base runner, and fired to first to retire another.

It was a historic triple play.
